Thursday 3rd March was World Book Day here in school. The children came to school as their favourite book characters. We had a super day and we found lots of interesting facts about authors past and present. The children spent some time reading about their favourite characters.
Class 6 enjoyed trying lots of new foods. We tried chickpeas, feta cheese, spring onions, peppers, croissants and brioche. Look at how happy our faces are! For our Art this half term, Class 6 looked at the art work of early civilisations. We decided to use clay and sculpting tools to create our very own miniatured Easter Island Heads. We spent lots of time looking at the different features of them and designed them in our sketch books. After that, we got our hands dirty and moulded the clay into the our required shape. Making sure the spend extra time adding the ears and noses. We then used our sculpting tools to add the extra detail to the faces. Finally, we painted them to help set the clay in position. Class 6 spent a full week designing, preparing and cooking pitta bread pizzas. They researched the necessary food hygiene practices and safety techniques to create a healthy and appetising meal.
After discussing how the paint for cave paintings could have been created, Class 6 crushed different vegetables to make different colour paints. |
