We loved our DT project - designing and making our own cushions.
In the unit, we learnt applique techniques and used a range of stitches to make our wonderful finished products. Our designs had a winter or festive theme, which made them an ideal gift to take home during our Christmas break and we hope all of our families really liked them because we were super proud. We had a really lovely Christmas week in our class with so many fun activities, including: our Year 3/4 concert, where the children were so brave on stage, excellent area finding in maths, brilliant descriptive writing for our winter setting pictures, lots of card and creative calendar making and last but not least, designing and sewing our fabulous Christmas cushions, that the children were incredibly proud of. Through all this excitement, Class 6 showed what they do best- great listening, helping each other and trying super hard! Thank you so much for being fabulous and have a very Merry Christmas. Love from Mrs Belfield ( one super proud teacher). Wonderful reading from these super stars. We really enjoyed learning this famous Christmas poem by Clement Clark Moore which was written in 1882 but is still enjoyed by so many today. We loved working in teams to hunt for facts about Stonehenge. Some of the clues answered our questions and some did not, so we had to work together to find the correct information. Super impressed with Class 6's painting skills this afternoon.
We shared resources and worked very carefully, mixing primary colours together to create secondary colours and completed a colour wheel. We had lots of fun exploring circuits in science today. We used the components to build different simple circuits and lit bulbs, buzzed buzzers and powered motors. We noticed that we could add more cells to make the bulb shine more brightly and if we added extra components to our circuits the bulb became dimmer. After exploring different examples of stone age cave art, we used chalks and charcoal to create our own cave stories without words. We were really proud of our finished art work. What a brilliant start to our English work this week!
We were brilliant at working together to read different instructions and magpie great phrases that we could use in our own work. We can't wait to get writing! |
