In PHSCE our topic is Me and My Body. We have been learning about different body parts and which parts should be private. We have also been learning about how to keep clean and look after ourselves. Here are our completed moving monsters with added sound FX too! We loved playing with them afterwards. In DT we have been learning about levers and pivots. We have created our own linkages that we will use to make a moving monster.Today we have been celebrating World Book Day! As well as sharing our fantastic costumes and love for reading we have taken part in a few different activities. We wrote a book review about our favourite book from our Book Talk collection; followed an illustration tutorial to draw Beegu and listened to different stories from adults around the school.
Class 2 was also very lucky to receive a mystery box from one of our children full of Wonka Bars! Thank you very much. Have a look at some of the photos from the day. We are really enjoying learning new songs in our Music lessons as well as learning to play the glockenspiel. Here is one of our recent favourites, Cuckoo. During our Art lessons we have been layering different techniques to create a silhouette effect. We used watercolours and pastels, blending colours together to make new tones. This art work of the London skyline was inspired by our History topic of Guy Fawkes.
This term we have been learning about identifying different animals in our science lessons. We have discussed the different pets we have and what our pets need to make sure they are cared for. We have also explored the life cycle of a tadpole and identified which animals are mammals, fish, birds, amphibians and reptiles. Recently, we have used a table to sort animals into whether they are carnivores (meat eaters), herbivores (plant eaters) and omnivores (plant and meat eaters) – Class 2 have been super at this! The knowledge they have retained has really impressed Mrs Powell, particularly when naming the characteristics of a mammal. As our Identifying Animals topic comes to an end, we are going to finish it with exploring our school grounds to see how many creepy crawlies (ants, spiders, woodlouse, beetles, worms, slugs and snails) we can find! Take a look at some of us identifying which of our pets are carnivores, herbivores and omnivores as well as some pieces of work that are on our science display. Watch this space for an update on our next science topic which is all about the different types of habitats that animals live in! |
