In writing we are exploring instructions. We have looked at a variety of instructions and have created our own set and followed them! We made sure that we were clear and used lots of essential features like time conjunctions, imperative verbs and bullet points. We especially enjoyed 'getting bossy' using imperative verbs and really loved this song!
We have a new addition to Class 1, it is 'The Reading Bear'. He has joined our class to share his love of reading. Each week a child takes home the bear with a book and treats to share with the people at home. At the end of reading bears time with you each child shares something that they enjoyed about the story in our class journal, this is shared with everyone in class the following week. Can you convince other children to read the book too? The book is then added to the bookshelf for children to enjoy if they choose. The Reading Bear can't wait to visit you soon! This half term in science we have been looking at properties of materials. One of the properties we have explored is buoyancy. If a material is denser than the water it will sink. We have tested a variety of materials and as we are reading 'The Pirates Next Door' as part of our writing we designed and made the family a new boat. We used the materials we had tested and carefully constructed our vessels! We tested them and we were all very happy that they all floated and would make a great new home for the 'Jolly Rodger' family! Why not ask us which materials we chose and why? On Friday we all came to school in our PJ's to support Children in Need! We talked a lot about the charity and how important it is. We also discussed how we can help and support other people at home and in school by being kind and helpful. We had a lot of fun and are all excited to put our ideas into practise.
Today we had so much fun celebrating the Platinum Jubilee in Class 1! Everyone looks soooo gorgeous dressed dressed in red, white and blue. We all decorated our own plate to eat from and created our own beautiful crowns using tessellating patterns. We made our own sandwiches and decorated biscuits with icing and goodies on the top. All of Key stage 1 played games outside and then came in to eat our sandwiches on the corridors with everyone in school. We had a super day and we didn't want it to end!
What a lovely day we all had! I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable break and remember to be careful and have lots of fun! |
