We have been learning all about Anglo-Saxon Britain in history this week and there were clues hidden all around our classroom so we could find out lots about daily life in the early middle ages. We had to hunt for clues in teams and then work out which (if any) of our questions the information would answer.
It was great fun and we worked incredibly well together. We have created a beautiful display of space art work. First, we explored the colours of the planets using water colours, pencils, chalk and pastels. Then, we tried to recreate the colours of each planet using marbling inks. Initially, it was tricky to get the ink to behave as we wanted but with some good persevering we have created a fabulous solar system display with classes 7 and 9; we are really proud of it. Joseph really brought the story alive in our class today with different characters and anecdotes to help us think about remembrance. It helped us to understand and respect how people's faith can help them through difficult times. Thank you for a great workshop. What an amazing time we had at the National Space Centre Museum!
We loved exploring the galleries and finding out all about the space race, what it is like for an astronaut to travel and work in space and explored wonders of the universe. The planetarium show was incredible and we felt as though we were travelling through space. We explored how gravity works on different planets, how planets orbit the sun in our solar system and even managed to experience what it might be like to be an astronaut by climbing into replica space rocket, which was a very tight squeeze, and communicating to Earth using the communication system. We had a fabulous time making our salads this week. The art room was bursting with delicious, fresh scents of the Mediterranean foods we used and everyone worked so well: sharing, safely cutting and preparing their food together.
Great job Class 8! We thoroughly enjoyed tasting ingredients for our Greek salads this week. We we so brave and so many children tried something new. We decided on our favourite foods to include and designed our own salads, which we will make next week. Looking forward to a delicious Wednesday! Our Year 6 children had a great afternoon learning all about emergency first aid. Everyone really enjoyed learning what to do if someone was choking or not breathing and gained incredibly valuable life skills. Once again, my class made me very proud with their fabulous behaviour and contributions in the session. Thank you to the wonderful ladies who delivered the session. Super proud of class 8 this week in reading. Everyone was amazingly supportive, encouraging and resilient in our partner reading session. I loved seeing how great they were at attentively listening to each other and responding with help if their partners got stuck. Wonderful work everyone - keep it up! What a fabulous start to our year together!
Class 8 have shown amazing teamwork and reasoning skills when we sorted adverbials this week. Keep up the hard word everyone. |
