Many of the children in KS1 enjoyed film night. Thank you for helping us raise funds for the school! We all loved celebrating World Book Day this year. Class 3 enjoyed a number of different activities including a book quiz; book bingo; cover design and listening to many stories throughout the day. Oh yes, don't forget the hot chocolate and biscuit at the end of the day. What a wonderful time we had!In PHSCE we have been talking about the people that are important to us in our lives and the sort of relationships that we have. In this lesson, we talked about what it is to be a good friend and chose some keywords that we think are important.
In maths, we have been learning all about money. We have looked at how to identify the value of different coins and notes; how to count mixed coins and how to select the correct amount.
This week we played along to the song that we have been learning on the glockenspiels. After we learned the notes, we focused on playing the correct rhythm in time. We loved challenging ourselves by trying more difficult rhythms at the end!
Earlier this week, KS1 had another visit from a special visitor. Steph, a dental nurse from Barnsley, came to tell us all about her important job. We looked at the equipment that she uses and learned how to keep our teeth clean and healthy. We also talked about the steps that they take in order to keep everything clean so that germs don't get spread about. We talked about the difference between healthcare now and during Florence Nightingale's time.
KS1 had the pleasure of meeting our time travelling guest, Florence Nightingale today. We have been learning about her important work during History lessons so it was a wonderful opportunity to find out more about her life, what it was like to be alive at that time and the conditions that she worked in. We took part in a number of drama and movement activities, learning key dates and information along the way. Finally, Florence told us about the important work of Mary Seacole. Here is a video of us celebrating her valuable contribution to our society. In PE we have been working in groups to show movements that different animals might make. We've also been incorporating some shapes that we have been practising. We enjoy performing to the class and talking about each other's ideas. This is an example of some of our work.
